The Sanctuary is a dinosaur roleplay game on roblox. I kinda don't really play games, but for some reason this one got me invested.. There are a few roles that are available to the public, but for the most part its a closed community. You have to apply to be apart of it. This is supposed to raise the quality of the game experience as you 'act' as different dinosaurs with set rules for each species. There is still some issues of fail roleplay, but I honestly don't think the players give its playerbase enough credit... If you hop on any other dino rp game on roblox, you will Not get this level of cohesion between players.
I like to play exclusively as herbivores. Even outside of this game, I like herbivores wayyyyy more. I've never even played as a carnivore before lol. The playerbase, especially when an update with new dinosaurs drops, has some issues with a balanced ecosystem. Some days I get on as parasaurolophus or gallimimus and I am gettinh hunted literally every second. Herbivores are in dire need and I am happy to fill that niche when other people find it boring..
I'm excited for the future of this game. Its still in development and has a lot left to make. There are still 2 sets of dinosaurs that haven't been released yet, along with a lot of other features for both human and dino players. The dinosaurs ability to interact with the environment right now is pretty limited. Its basically purely roleplay - you use an emote to scratch a tree to mark your territory, but it doesn't actually show up on the tree. Once the game is developed more, there will be more unique ways to interact with the environment. For example its planned that some dinos could build structures like dams or dens with resources found outside.
Additionally, the game has a lot of discourse since its in development.. People are always criticizing the dinosaurs behavior profiles and want changes. Although I see the merit in some of the complaints, a lot of it just seems like nitpicking to me. It will never end. You see people say "(x) dinosaur needs replaced by (x)" and its like, Well what would that actually solve. Then you could complain about the behavior of that new dinosaur. A lot of complaints also seem player-based and not behavior-based to me. Like, people will complain about carnivores lives just being "hunt, sleep, hunt, sleep" and its like Well what more do you want.. this is a realism based game, theres not gonna be minigames or something.. Go play a dino rpg if you don't want to hunt and sleep lol.
