Jackie Mbingu

Jackie is the most prominent side character in The Windows Have Fogged. She is Ceeryaami's closest friend, them both meeting through an African immigrants group. Jackie came from Tanzania to Norway for college, but ultimately dropped out and started a bakery in Trondheim. Jackie is a highly efficient worker, and prefers to work alone to keep everything perfect. However in wanting to connect with her new community, she likes to employ a few college-aged Norwegians at a time to get an idea of how to appeal her business to them.

Jackie previously dated Lykke, but they broke up due to a difference in how they wanted to live their lives. Lykke was fast-paced, always wanting more, and couldn't stay still. Jackie felt very secure in what she had and liked a slower, more consistent life style. They remained friends easily since it was very obvious since the start they weren't really a good romantic match.

Jackie's surname Mbingu means Sky in Swahili. It parallels Ceeryaami (& Tåket)'s names which mean foggy. She is a clear, grounded figure in Ceeryaami's life to help her navigate the world while she herself is 'foggy'.

Timeloop

Jackie's home becomes a frequent place of visit during the timeloop. She does not know this of course, but is welcoming to Tåket each time. Ceeryaami tells her that she & Tåket are in a timeloop a few times, and Jackie reacts confused but ultimately believes her due to Ceeryaami being an extremely serious, reliable person.
